At EDD, a Veteran can register in CalJOBS, fax resumes to employers, access Internet Job Services, receive referrals to education and training, and inquire about workshops. Case Management, (see glossary) is available according to need. VWS (Veteran Workforce Specialist) and VESS (Veteran Employment Services Specialist) can assist qualified Veterans in their search for employment and other services. Veterans can use the many computers to register in CalJOBS and search the Internet, with assistance if necessary. Veterans will be guided through the creation of a usable resume and/or a CalJOBS resume to be viewed by employers, online. Ventura Vet Center offers counseling to address PTSD, Re-adjustment Counseling Services as well as job readiness coaching.

Catholic Charities, 303 N. Ventura Ave., Ste. A, Ventura, CA 93001. (805)643-4694) FAX: (805)643-4781. Open 9am – 12noon and 1pm – 4 pm, M. Tu, Th, F – closed Wed. The location provides: housing, clothing, counseling, food and other help for the homeless.

Commission on Human Concerns, 621 Richmond Ave, Oxnard, CA 93030. (805)486-4725, (800)655-6230, FAX: (805)487-25512. 8am – 4pm Mon – Fri. They provide information and assistance with food, housing and personal legal issues.

Salvation Army, 622 Wooley Road, Oxnard, CA 93033. (805)483-9235, (805)487-2074, FAX: (805)487-7655. Open daily. A Veteran can obtain food, clothing, help with overdue PG&E bills and counseling. Social group meetings are a regular occurance. Vouchers can be obtained from EDD Veteran’s Representative for up to $25.00 for goods or services from Salvation Army.

At both Many Mansions and Lutheran Social Services, a Veteran can receive services related to food, counseling and housing. Through HUD veterans can share any of the kinds of housing available in the community.

Department of Veterans Affairs, Santa Barbara Community Based Outpatient Clinic. 4440 Calle Real, Santa Barbara, CA 93110 (805)685-8395, FAX:A(805)683-3631; 8am – 5pm. Mon – Fri. Can sign-up for Veterans Medical assistance and be enrolled in the Veterans’ Administration Medical Benefits program. Can apply for Veteran’s Medical benefits card for use is all USA facilities.

Veterans Affairs Medical Clinic. 250 Citrus Grove Lane, Oxnard, CA 93030. (805)983-6384. Open Mon – Fri 8:00 to 4:30. They offer in-house blood draws, shots and the services of three assigned doctors. A Veteran Affairs staff is also on duty full time to sign Veterans for Medical Card and to assist in any referrals to the Sepulveda Center in Van Nuys.
