The Redding Housing Authority (RHA) administers the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.  The Voucher Program assists very-low income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market.  The participant is free to choose any housing that meets program requirements.  The Voucher Program helps keep monthly housing costs to approximately 30% of the family's adjusted income.  The RHA receives annually approximately $5 million which is dispersed directly to owners on behalf of eligible families.  Interested individuals and families may contact the RHA office to request an application.  After the family's name is placed on the waiting list, it will take six months to one year for the RHA to contact the family for an eligibility review to take place.
