The Police Department is a general law enforcement agency which works closely with other community resources to investigate criminal activity, enforce laws, and provide security through our patrols. The Department has a strong community orientation and has implemented a number of community oriented policing programs, several of which address housing and homelessness issues. Our primary role in the homelessness issue has been to refer persons in need to the appropriate agencies, as well as helping to ensure those persons are not being discriminated against or victimized.
