The Shasta County Department of Social Services administers benefit programs for Temporary Cash Assistance, Food Stamps, Medi-Cal/County Medical Assistance Program and In Home Supportive Services to families and individuals in financial or medical need that meet eligibility requirements for these programs. Children and Family Services administer programs to ensure children and youth are safe, healthy, in school, out of trouble, have a real permanency, and a chance to be productive citizens. Adult Social Services provides supportive and protective services for adults and elders, including protective services, in-home support, and Public Guardian. Social workers are stationed throughout the County at senior centers and congregate meal sites.
